Changemaker Scholars

Are you civically engaged?

Are you interested in mentoring youth serving their community?

Are you looking for an exciting internship opportunity while earning upper-division credit?

Changemaker Scholars work with Changeist to mentor youth civic activists in their pursuit of social change. All students selected to be Changemaker Scholars will receive a $2,000 scholarship and will enroll in a 4-unit upper-division UCLA independent study course.

“As a Changemaker Scholar, I become both a better student and a more impactful agent of change. As a student, I learned to intentionally connect my personal experiences and the experience of those around me with what I was learning in the classroom. As an agent of change, the program introduced me to a community of other changemakers to learn from and gave me an academic foundation in social change work to deepen my impact. I was able to develop a critical lens while engaging in service, a skill that has been crucial to my career after UCLA as a youth worker in Stockton, CA. This was by far one of the most impactful experiences I had as a student at UCLA!”

Austin is a former Changemaker Scholar and Team Leader at Changeist. After graduating from UCLA, Austin was hired to be the founding Program Manager for the 2nd Changeist location in Stockton, CA.
